Fashion Week 2013: Timeless and Versatile

If you’re a busy gal like us then getting a moments peace to watch fashion week is out of the question.  But, don’t worry!  The Treasure Chest ladies have done some of the best kind of research to bring you fashion week in a few nutshells.  Our next few posts are going to be completely devoted to this seasonal event. So, get in your comfy chair and grab a pen or pencil to jot down some great trend ideas!

Many designers are paying some love and homage to the late Coco Chanel this season with a great chanel jacket/suit variation.   We were excited to see the Chanel suit in quite a few different runway shows.

Classy Office

Go to work in the traditional tweed fashion like Z Spoke by Zac Posen or Lela Rose.  Want to add some edge to your work wear?  Grab a bright colored suit like Victoria Beckham’s for popping contrast.  Or go high fashion like Sportsmax or Belstaff for a cool switch up from your ho-hum every day suit.  Going to a work lunch?  Why not be a little more delicate and girly in a pastel colored lace suit like Chadwick Bell.

Want something a little more edgy for your office days?  Just take a look at what’s going on in these designers’ wheelhouses.  How do you say no to a funky cutaway chanel like suit by Diane Von Furstenberg?  Well, you don’t, that’s how.  We loved her take on one of the most recognizable classics!  Or get layering like Daks for a more comfortable look.  Go daring in a bright white suit like Escada for a look that says “summer isn’t too far off…”

Love the idea of a suit, but not one with a skirt?  No worries the Chanel-esque jacket is an instantly good choice for wherever you work.  If you are used to having a completely matching suit you may like to take some inspiration from Sportsmax, Alexis Mabille, and Escada.  Their bold all over prints and great heels are surely an office pleaser for even the manliest of work places.

Is your dress code more relaxed than most?  Why not show your co-workers you mean business AND fun with some great ideas from Sachin &Babi, Alice & Olivia, and Creatures of the Wind.  Go business casual in a great textured Chanel like jacket with satin pants and button down for a more stylish work day like Sachin & Babi.  Or be fun and cute like Alice & Olivia with your favorite pair of linen capris or khakis.  Not a girly girl?  Grab a great cropped Chanel-esque jacket and layer it with your favorite vest and black pants for a hip but subtle style.

Out and About

Are you going out tonight?  Instead of using a wrap why not grab a pretty decorative Chanel like jacket to ward off that chill. How about an aqua boucle jacket like Alice&Olivia’s for the picnic date?  Or if you’re out for a night on the town take a pink pleather jacket like Christian Siriano to go over that adorable dress.  Just going out with the girls?  Wow your girlfriends with a bold solid colored jacket over your favorite maxi dress for maximum style and comfort.

Are you in need of something a little more formal for a ceremony, event, or gala?  Well look no further! Look absolutely chic with some suggestions.  Go with a bold color and traditional tweed cut like Kate Spade New York or Donna Karan for midday event.  For an evening event we love the idea of bold colored detailing all over like Monique Lhuillier or Dolce & Gabanna.  Or you can go with subtle style like Christopher Kane with beautiful satin brocade and nude color.  Think you can’t wear pants to an evening event?  Think again.  Badgley Mischka definitely blew us away with this chic and feminine take on women’s pant suits.
