I may be a little late but...

Recently we lost the fashion icon, Elizabeth Taylor.  I thought it would be appropriate to look back at her fashion over the years as an inspiration and a lesson in the change in fashion over time.

She was a legend in the wold of film, and in the world of fashion.  There are some really good biographies out about her now,  and there are many many more photos to "learn" from.

Have a happy Memorial Day everyone!

Designer Goods Preview

Some of you may have noticed we have a button for "Designer Goods" on our links page.  We have been working on a sister site to our Etsy page that specializes in high end designer clothing that is NOT vintage.
I thought I might give you a little teaser of what you might find there (I'm so mean haha).

Did you check out the tag?  That's right....It's a Diane Von Furstenburg.

This dress is stunning.  Diane has been releasing a "vintage" collection for a few years now, and all of the designs are based on her classic silhouettes.  This is a revival of one of her classic sleeveless wrap dresses from the 1970s.  It is made of 100% Silk JERSEY!!!!  You don't see that every day.

Also...just so you know how great of a deal this dress is....originally this dress would have sold for around $325.  We will be listing it at $159.

So keep your eyes open and watch for the announcement of our new online store.  You never know what treasures you'll find at The Treasure Chest!

Bill Cunningham...The Genius

A few posts back I talked about how street style blogs give me a lot of inspiration, and help me to understand new trends.

Well, street style photography may not exist at all today if it wasn't for this man.  Bill Cunningham revolutionized the way we look at fashion, because he was looking at real, everyday people.

If you haven't already seen this trailer...watch it.  I can't wait to get it on DVD so that I can snuggle in my jammies, eat buttered popcorn, and watch in awe.

Movie night anyone?

The 1970s have infected Glee too!!!

So, as I've said before, it's all about the 1970s in fashion right now.  You know a trend has come to stay when it is featured on prime time television, and I found a perfect example of exactly that.  This season on Fox TV's "Glee", 70s fashion has popped up again and again.  Shall we have a look?

First up:  Santana's Sailor Jeans

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these jeans.  They can be dressed up in so many ways!  Plus, check out those huge sunglasses!!!  This whole look just screams 1970s!

Next up:  Brittany's Floppy Hat and crocheted batwing top.

I honestly never thought I would see sun hats like this again.  Yet here they are, back in full force, 1970s style.  Honestly they're a great way to protect yourself from skin cancer.  Everyone has to love that.

Third at bat:  Rachel's party dress

(sorry, this is the best photo I could find)

At first I wasn't sure if I was supposed to take this seriously or not.  I love that she honestly thinks that this is a party worthy outfit.  However, I have seen more and more dresses like this popping up in vintage shops.

In fact, look what we have in our closet!  You could be your own version of Rachel Berry!

Find this dress, and many other Glee worthy fashions in our Shop!

Happy Monday!
