We have considered the classic New Year’s Resolutions and divided
them up into two steps: eliminating then making alternative choices for each of
your individual goal. Explore the
options to take on a more specific and hopefully more attainable resolutions
for 2013.
Eat healthier
1. Slowly
eliminate processed foods, white grains, sugary
drinks, and the amount of salt you put on your food.
2. Then start choosing frozen or fresh vegetables such as broccoli, whole grains, and healthy
fats such as pumpkin seeds or almonds. The key can be an evolution from
snack and occasional side dish to eventually full meals.
Tackling debt
1. Slowly
eliminating unnecessary expenditures such as the sugary café-made coffees each
morning, restaurant outings, and movie tickets.
2. Start
making choices to better foster dollar growth! Try to start evaluating your needs vs. wants. Record where your money goes, and save a
portion of your paychecks for future situations, such as retirement.
Do something new
1. Eliminate
preconceived notions of who you are by questioning your everyday choices. Ask
yourself, “Do I really want chicken again for dinner or should I try salmon?”
2. Start choosing new concepts and ideas that bring a
small adventure for the day. This can range from taking the bus rather than
driving your car to visiting Indianapolis rather than Cedar Pointe.
Start Volunteering
1. Eliminate
unproductive hours in your day by evaluating the amount of time it takes you to
do things. Record how long it takes to
check emails and scroll through Facebook and start recognizing your own
availability.
2. Make the choice to donate your time and skills helping
others within your community. Research organizations where you would love to
volunteer.
Get organized
1.Eliminate things that you no longer
want or need by sorting through your paperwork, crazy drawers, and overwhelming
closets.
2. Start
imagining what the perfect organization system that would best suit your
lifestyle. Research and invest- file systems are
sometimes too generic and aren’t meant for everyone.
